- To pay respects to our freedom fighters, we celebrate Martyrs Day on March 23rd and January 30th.
- On March 23rd, we celebrate Martyrs Day for our heroes who sacrificed their life at a very young age for the betterment of the country.
- On 23rd march 1931, 3 young freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru were arrested for throwing bombs in the assembly.
- They were hanged in the Lahore jail and cremated on the banks of the Satluj River.
- Martyrs day is also celebrated on January 30th for the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
- He is known as the father of the nation who plays a very important role in the independence of the country.
- He was assassinated by Nathuram Godse in the year 1948 and Nathuram Godse was sentenced to death on November 8th, 1948.
- The government declared this day as Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs Day.
- On this day, schools and colleges organize events and functions and prepare performances on the bravery and sacrifice of the freedom fighters.
- These days are celebrated in India to pay respects to our freedom fighters and to remember their sacrifice.
