 1) Jyotirao Phule belongs to “Shudras”, lower caste according to Hindu caste system.

3) Jyotirao Phule and his wife (Savitri Bai) established India’s first school for girls in Pune.


4) Jyotirao Phule also promoted widow remarriage.


5) Along with his wife, Phule established infanticide prevention center in Pune.


6) He wrote the famous book “Gulamgiri” (slavery).


7) Phule founded Satyashodhak Samaj (truth-seeker society), on 24 September 1873.
